MLA promises drinking water for Ongole
Ongole: MLA Damacharla Janardhana Rao announced that the areas under the Ongole Municipal Corporation will receive drinking water soon and assured that the arrangements were almost complete.
The MLA participated in the fifth round of Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme at the 37th division in Ongole town on Tuesday. In the meeting held at the Chennakesava Swami Manyam Layout Park, the MLA unveiled plaques for various developmental activities in the division and offered floral tributes to the TDP founder, NT Ramarao. The MLA said that about Rs 1 crore was sanctioned to develop the park in the division. He said that under the AMRUT scheme, 6908 houses in the town were being given drinking water tap connections with a budget of Rs 2.88 crore. He announced that major roads in the town were well constructed now.
Rao said that the pipelines work to provide drinking water to each house daily for an hour, was nearing completion and said that Rs 164 crore were being spent on it. The MLA distributed newly sanctioned ration cards, Chandranna Bima bonds, scholarships and prizes to the children in various competitions held during Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru programme.
Municipal Commissioner Sankranti Venkata Krishna, muncipal engineer Sundara Ramireddy and other officers also participated in the programme.
