Uncleared garbage all over the place

West Marredpally: Dry plants sand piles and other waste are dumped near the dustbin behind the Kasturba Gandhi Women’s College gate hampering movement of two-way traffic. Local residents said that the civic body has been pruning the tree branches and leaving them on the footpath. Mountains of garbage have not been removed from Subramanya Swamy temple compound wall.  

Devotees visiting the temple are facing inconvenience. The residents point out those complaints to the staff in the past bore no fruit, while demanding immediate clearance of the pile. They said every morning workers and aged persons who take up walks and do exercise were finding the uncleared garbage an eyesore and very inconvenient. They alleged that the staff had failed to clear it after promising action.

People residing near the basketball ground in West Marredpally also grumble about the slow pace of work of the ‘dangal’ training building going on for months. As a result, sportspersons are being forced to travel to far off places for training. A resident demanded expeditious completion of the work, In response, the health officer informed THI that the problem of the piled up garbage has been brought to ‘our’ notice. He said plants and waste dumped by local people have piled up. 

In the past, garbage has been regularly cleared.  ‘We will depute staff to clear the garbage, said Devender, sanitation wing superintendent, Secunderabad cantonment Board. Referring to the delayed work, the officer maintained that the issue has been brought to the department’s notice. ‘We are reviewing the pace of the work on a daily basis. We will hold discussions with the higher-ups in an effort to speed up the construction’.
