All India Agriculture Working Union demands dismissal of Jagadish Reddy

Khammam: All India Agriculture Working Union (AIAWU) district unit secretary Vedagiri Srinivas Rao here on Thursday condemned the comments reportedly made by Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy against the women farmworkers who died tractor accidents in Yadradri district. The AIAWU activists burnt the effigy of the Minister J at the Saritha Clinic centre here.

Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Rao said as many as 15 farmworkers died when a tractor they were travelling in skidded off the road and fell into the canal near Vemulawada village under Valligonda mandal in Yadrardri district.

When the Minister visited the spot, family members of the deceased requested him to see that ex gratia of Rs10 lakh is paid to the kin of each farmworker. Instead of responding to the request positively, the Minister reportedly said the government cannot pay Rs.10 lakhs of ex gratis to farmworkers. He demanded that the Minister be dismissed from the Cabinet immediately.

AIAWU members Battula Lenin, K Narasaiah, G Rattamma, Venkaiah, Venkateshwar Rao, Anil, N Manohar, K Narsimha Rao, M Sathyanarayana and Hemanth were present at the programme.
