Bhadrachalam Area Hospital likely to get Central aid

Bhadrachalam: The Area Hospital in Bhadrachalam is likely to emerge as the first hospital in the Agency area in the country to get recognition for maintaining National Quality Assurance Standard (NQAS).

The NQAS, which inspected the hospital on Thursday, expressed its satisfaction over the Area Hospital maintaining NQAS. If the NQAS recognition is accorded, the hospital will get at the rate of Rs 20 lakh for three years. It means that the Central government will pump Rs 60 lakh into the development of hospital after the recognition is accorded. Aid will be given under the National Health Mission.

The team inspected the hospital for three days. The 200-bed Area Hospital is in Bhadrachalam Agency area under Bhadradri-Kothagudem District.  According to source, the team members expressed their satisfaction over the maintenance of hospital in all aspects. The team inspected 18 sections in the hospital. 

The team members appreciated Hospital Superintendent Dr M V Koti Reddy for keeping the premises clean and ensuring that best treatment is provided to the patients. 

Though the hospital is understaffed, the authorities with good coordination are able to keep it in good stead. There are 45 staff members in the hospital. The authorities estimated that at least 200 staff members are required to maintain the size of this hospital.  

The team members said the doctors and nurses in the hospital had handled 22,589 deliveries during the last six years. The team certified that it was an achievement. Area Hospital Superintendent Dr Koti Reddy, speaking to The Hans India, expressed the hope that the hospital would get the recognition.
