Bhadrachalam Area Hospital bags Kayakalp Award for the third time
Kothagudem: The 200-bedded Bhadrachalam Area Hospital in the district has scored a hat-trick by bagging the Kayakalp Award for the year 2018-19. Earlier, it won the award in 2016-17 and 2017-18.
This year the hospital has received a reward of Rs 20 lakh for topping the State in Area Hospitals category.
According hospital authorities, over 400 persons get treated in outpatient wing and around 300 deliveries take place every month. Patients from villages in neighbouring states like Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh also visit the hospital.
The reward money received in the last two years has been spent on improving infrastructure in the hospital and this time, the hospital authorities have decided to spend Rs 5 lakh for the welfare of the staff and the remaining would be spent as per the advice of the hospital development committee, officials said.
"The collective efforts of the medical staff have helped to win the award for the consecutive three years in a row. We are happy that the hospital has been selected under National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS)," said hospital superintendent Dr Koti Reddy.
