Water released into Nagarjunasagar left canal
Nagarjunasagar: Minister for Energy G Jagadish Reddy along with Rajya Sabha member Badugula Lingaiah Yadav on Thursday released water into left canal from NSP reservoir to provide irrigation to 6.5 lakh acres in Nalgonda and Khammam district during current Khariff season.
Speaking on this occasion, the Minister said the government is committed for the welfare of framers and directed the Irrigation officials to monitor closely to ensure that water reaches tail end farmers.
Farmers in the ayacut of NSP left canal had harrowing experience in the united Andhra Pradesh. He urged all the farmers to utilise every drop of water to cultivate every acre of land by avoiding wastage.
Water was being released to the crops in ayacut through 42 lifts on the left canal. The officials are taking all measures to fill all village water bodies and drinking water tanks, including Udhya Samudram to address drinking water issue in the district Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao ordered the release of water to NSP left canal after huge inflows into the project.
