Laxma Reddy sure of retaining his berth in KCR’s cabinet
Mahbubnagar: Former Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy is in all probability expected to retain his berth in the KCR’s cabinet during the first phase of its expansion.
According to reliable sources, the former Health Minister is quite sure of securing his name in the first list of ministers which the Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is going to announce soon.
Dr Reddy has successfully retained his seat from Jadcherla constituency by winning with a margin of approximately 47,000 votes in the recently concluded Assembly elections. In this backdrop, the former minister is said to have been given priority to be sworn in as Minister for the second time in CM KCR's cabinet.
The former Health Minister, who is also a homeopathy doctor, made his debut into politics as a sarpanch of Avancha. Later, he also worked as the leader of sarpanches’ association. From there onwards Dr. Reddy climbed step by step from a single window chairman, to vice president of MPP Association and the chairman of District Library Organization.
He contested as an independent candidate from Jadcherla in 1999, however, he lost the elections. Later he joined the TRS party and fought for the formation of separate Telangana State. During the 2004 general elections, Dr Laxma Reddy contested from TRS party as part of alliance member with the Congress party and won as first time MLA from Jadcherla. And later when KCR called for the resignation of TRS MLAs, Laxma Reddy was the first MLA to resign among others.
However, in the ensuing by-elections he lost at the hands of Congress leader Mallu Ravi. Later in the 2009 elections, KCR formed alliance with the TDP and, as part of Mahakutami, Dr. Reddy scarified his seat for TDP and did not contest the elections. When KCR had achieved Telangana in 2014, Dr. Reddy became MLA for the second time from Jadcherla constituency and later he became the Health Minister in KCR’s cabinet.
For the past 4 years from 2014 to 2018, Dr. Reddy had carved out a comprehensive plan for the development of Jadcherla constituency in particularly and Mahabubnagar district in general. It was in his regime Mahbubnagar district got first Government Medical College for the district and he was also instrumental for getting AIIMs at Bibinagar in Telangana state.
Further he had also taken up various development works like expansion of roads, installation of central lighting system, Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya projects successfully in his constituency. “I am dedicating my victory to the people of my constituency.
I will also dedicate my entire life to their service. I am in politics due to the blessings of CM KCR and the people of Jadcherla. I will once again utilise this opportunity and repay their debt," Laxma Reddy told in an exclusive interview with Hans India.
