End child marriages, educate girls: Joint Collector Venkateshwarlu

Nizamabad: Joint Collector Venkateshwarlu said that parents should send their daughters for higher education rather than opting for child marriages.

He participated in the closing ceremony of National Girl Child Day celebrations at New Ambedkar Bhawan here on Tuesday. The JC said that parents should give the opportunity to both daughters and sons to enjoy their rights equally. He expressed concern about the declining population of women in the county.

Additional Commissioner Usha Viswanath said that all should respect girls and should be educated. She asked the girls to exercise their right to education, who are working for development of the community and the country. District Welfare Officer Jhansi Rani, DM&HO Sudarshan, GCDO Shakuntala Devi, DCPO Chaitanya Kumar, BRB coordinator Swarna Latha, Manjula, Women Power Centre Desk coordinator, ICPS staff and others participated in the programme.
