Hyderabad: BC body plans protest in front of Parliament in Vidyanagar
Vidyanagar: BC Welfare Association president R Krishnaiah announced that BC associations would stage protests in front of Parliament demanding 50 per cent reservations to BCs in legislatures. On Thursday, a meeting of various BC associations was held here at BC Bhavan. BC leader Gujja Krishna presided the meeting. The meeting resolved to stage a three-day protest in front of Parliament from March 18 to 20.
Speaking on the occasion, R Krishnaiah warned BJP government at the centre to leave its antagonism towards BCs. Seeking justification for not conducting caste-wise census enumeration, he alleged that BJP had been stalling the BC bill which allows reservations to BCs in legislatures. He urged the government to initiate amendments to constitution in order to provide reservations in promotions. Krishnaiah urged the Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Rao to take an all-party delegation to New Delhi to pressurise Modi government to give constitutional validity to provide 50 per cent reservations in Panchayatraj institutions. He demanded various political parties to clarify their stand on political reservations to BCs. He alleged that political parties had been exploiting BCs for votes and ignoring them after elections.
Among those who attended the meeting were vice president of BC welfare association Gujja Krishna, Telangana BC Sangham president Gujja Satyam, BC Praja Samithi president Ananthaiah, Venkat, BC women association leader P Rani Samrajyam and others.
