Nalgonda: Rythu Samanvaya Samithi (RSS), launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao for the welfare and development of farmers across the State, was in fact failed to achieve its target. Rythu Samanvaya Samiti were formed in 2017 and as per the norms, its members have to play an active role in all agricultural-related operations and to secure minimum support price to the farmers. This is renamed as Rythu Bandhu Committee and formed with 8,578 farmers from village to district-level to render services to the framers in the district.

There are 140 revenue village committees, 31 mandal committees and district-level comittees were formed with expertise farmers in the district. Ramachandra Naik of Tripuraram mandal of Nagarjuna Sagar constituency was elected as the district coordinator and legislative council chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy was appointed as the first president of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi corporation.

Following the directions of the CM, RSS along with local MLAs distributed Rythu Bandhu scheme cheques to farmers in May 2017, at the time of introduction of the scheme. Later, the financial aid was being deposited in the farmers' bank accounts, which created gap between farmers and Rythu Samanvaya Samithi members in villages. The promise of constructing farmers' association buildings 'Rythu Vedika' for every 5,000 acres for the farmers to hold meetings could not come into reality even after three years of RSS came into action.

Opposition parties' leaders - Shankar Naik of Congress, Mudireddy Sudhakar Reddy of CPM and Kankanala Sridhar Reddy of BJP - termed RSS as political employment committees of the ruling TRS government. They criticised that even though district TRS leaders got the RSS State president posts successively, they failed to rescue the district farmers by providing market facilities during the lockdown.

Speaking to The Hans India, Rythu Samanvaya Samithi district president Ramachandra Naik said that RSS members along with agriculture officials are making efforts to assist farmers in all aspects in the district. He informed that land acquisition for the construction of Rythu Vedika buildings for 110 out of 140 was completed and for land acquisition for the remaining 30 bulidings will be finished within a few days.

He informed that all district coordinators of Rythu Samanvaya Samithi of the State were invited for meetings with Agriculture Minister and Chief minister on May 20 and May 21 to discuss the issues and to strengthen the RSS in order to discharge their duties effectively in the coming days in the interest of framers and to play key role in the State government's new crop policy.
