11,000 MT sand available in West Godavari dist: Joint Collector
Eluru: Joint Collector M Venugopala Reddy informed the Mines Department secretary K Ramgopal that a quantity of 11,000 metric tonnes of sand was available in West Godavari district.
He attended a videoconference of the Secretary from secretariat on Monday evening. Speaking on the occasion, the Joint Collector briefed the Secretary over the sand availability in the district.
He said 11 out of total 18 de-siltation sand reaches were functioning now. Arrangements have been made to bring back to use five open reaches inundated by flood. With regard to sale of sand from patta lands, the administration received 14 applications so far.
Efforts would be made to procure sand from there as flood entered in those lands now. For local sand needs they have been taking measures to supply sand from third order streams of Tammileru, Jalleru, Baneru, Errakaluva, Pamuleru and Pedavagu.
The Mines Secretary directed district officials to supply sand as priority for local needs. He asked the officials to arrange a system to monitor the CCTV footages at the sand reaches. Under no circumstances, sand should be allowed for transportation to other states, he warned.
