Engage village volunteers in voters list revision: CEO

Eluru: State Chief Electoral Officer K Vijayanand has suggested district election officials to avail the services of village volunteers for revision of voter list to speed up the process.

He convened a videoconference with Collectors various districts from Election Commission's office on Thursday. Speaking on the occasion, Vijayanand said that as for every 50 families a village volunteer is working, their services can be beneficial in revising the voter list at the earliest.

He asked the Collectors to take steps for active participation of booth-level officers, Anganwadi workers and data entry operators to finish the voter list revision in a qualitative manner. Collector R Muthyala Raju said the booth-level officers have been verifying details of 32 lakh voters in the district at the field-level and the scrutiny was completed by 40 per cent so far.

Joint Collector M Venugopala Reddy, another Joint Collector N Tej Bharat and other officials were present on the occasion.
