12K cr allotted for medical infra development: Minister

Kakinada: The YSRC government has given top priority for medicalcare in the state and as part of it, Rs 12,000 crore has been sanctioned for healthcare infrastructure development, said Health Minister Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas alias Nani.

Participating in the State-level review meeting of medical services at ZP Meeting Hall in Kakinada on Friday, the minister said that Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy considered medical service as basic right of people and gave top priority for providing medical services in the state.

The ministered said the previous government has not taken proper care in development of health services and neglected the Arogya Sri which caters to the needs of common man.

He said that there were 1,075 identified diseases under Arogya Sri and the government was seriously considering to add some more diseases to the lists. He added the income limit for availing Arogya Sri would be raised to Rs 5 lakh and in case of treatment for illness exceeds Rs 1,000, the Arogya Sri would be extended for such cases.

The minister also revealed that the revised Arogya Sri would be first implemented in West Godavari as pilot project from January 2020 and the same would be implemented in other districts in a phased manner.

Deputy Chief Minister and Revenue Minister P Subhash Chandra Bose observed that in order to lessen the burden of patient rush at Kakinada government general hospital, area hospitals in the district would be strengthened. MP Vanga Geeta, China Anuradha and several MLAs and officials participated.

KGGH to get new buildings Health Minister Alla Kalikrishna Srinivas along with Revenue Minister P Subhash Chandra Bose and Agriculture Minister Kurasala Kanna Babu inspected Kakinada Government General Hospital(KGGH) on Friday and assureds funds for various developmental activities.

The minster, on the occasion, announced construction of new hospital buildings replacing the old buildings in a phased manner. In addition to this, the minister also announced Rs 10 crore for Trauma Care Centre and said that the MCH buildings in the hospital would be completed by March next. KGGH Superintendent Dr M Raghavendra Rao welcomed the ministers and took them round the hospital.
