Village volunteers will improve PDS delivery: P Subhash Chandra Bose

Kakinada: The newly introduced village volunteers system has been aimed at improving the delivery mechanism of welfare schemes at village-level, said Deputy Chief Minister P Subhash Chandra Bose. Presiding over the review meet conducted at Collectorate on Wednesday, the minister said that district Collectors will act as appellate authorities on the actions of village volunteers in their respective districts.

He said Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy issued orders to consider the plea of owners of vehicles like tractors, four wheelers (taxis) and luggage carriers to exempt them as owners and allow them to get PDS benefits as there are restrictions on four-wheel owners in getting this facility.

With regard to land issues, the deputy CM said that changes would be made in web portal through adopting software to protect the land rights duly correcting the loopholes in the present system.

P Viswaroop, Social Welfare minister said that beneficiary selection for welfare schemes would be taken fairly on need based system without any discrimination and to control corruption up to lower level.

K Kanna Babu, Agriculture minister who also attended this meeting said that efforts should be made for sustainable development of the district as this district plays a vital role in economy development.

Collector D Muralidhar Reddy said that solving the public grievances would be given priority and every Monday meet would be organised to redress public grievances. MLCs, MLAs and district officials attended.
