Vijayawada: Development of BC community can only possible with political power, said Andhra Pradesh BC Welfare Association president K Shankar Rao. A BC round-table was organised here on Sunday. BC leaders from 13 districts of the state participated in the meet.

Speaking on the occasion, retired judges Chandra Kumar and Balayogi said that even after 72 years of independence the BC's were deprived of their rights and were crushed. They said that the SCs and STs were given reservation but reservations to the BCs were not given according to the population ratio even though their population is more than 50 percent in the state.

All political parties assured that they would do justice to them. However, they fail to fulfill their promises after coming to power. They will get justice only if SC, ST and BC communities collectively come into power, they opined.

Noted actor, director R Narayana Murthy came up with a slogan 'Mementho– Makanta' and said that seats should be allocated as per the population ratio. He said that when votes are ours and seats shall also be ours. He said that injustice was done to the BCs and they need not get disappointed and should form a political party and come to power, he added.

Telangana BC Welfare Association president J Srinivas Goud, APJAC Amaravati vice-chairman P Hanumantha Rao, former MLA Iilapuram Venkaiah, former Mayor T Shakuntala and others were present.
