Chittoor transforming into industrial hub: Amaranatha
Chittoor: Industries Minister N Amaranatha Reddy said that the district witnessed excellent growth in industries due to the initiative taken by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu during the last five years. With the efforts of the Chief Minister Chittoor district would be developed as an industrial hub, the minister said.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Saturday, the Minister said that Chittoor district has been placed in the first place in the development of industries at national level. ``There are 7,687 industries in the district with an estimated investment of Rs.20,000 crore creating employment for about 1.50 lakh beneficiaries," he said.
Amaranatha further said that existing industries in the district like Amararaja, Srikalahasti pipes Ltd, Dixon, IsUzu, Greenply, Colgate Palmolive, Jain Irrigation , Thermox , Sahi Exports and Pepsico are doing laudable business in production and also employment. New industries like Hero Motors, Apollo Tyres, Flora Khajara ceramics, Jio, Kurlon, Gokuldas Exports, Parle, Contenental Coffee, Britannia, Karbon Mobiles , Voltas and TCL are set for production in the district .
Excellent road connectivity like 4-lane Chennai-Chittoor –Bangaluru (NH-4); Bangaluru-Chennai Express High way, Tirupati – Naidupet ( NH-71), Madanapalli–Tirupati ( NH-71) besides Airport connectivity like Tirupati International Airport, Kuppam Air strip, Bangaluru International Airport and Chennai International Airport are contributing much for developing the industries in the district.
Chittoor district is located between Chennai and Bangaluru Industrial Corridor (CBIC) and Visakhapatnam Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC) he added. Explaining the cluster approach of the industries , the Minister said that Satyavedu ( Automobiles ) Ceramics ( Srikalahasti), Electronics ( Tirupati and Sricity ) Garments ( Kuppam, Piler,Puttur , Nagari), Silk Processing (Kuppam, Palamaner, Madanapalli), Honey Processing ( Kuppam , Tirupati), Food Processing ( Chittoor, Thamballapalli), Agriculture Implements ( Thamballapalli), Plastic ( Puttur, Nagari ), and Foot wear clusters (GD Nellore , V.Kota) have high potential in promoting the industrial growth.
