District authorities moot measures to ease sand supply norms

Kadapa: After serious allegations raised by opposition parties over failure of the government in supplying sand according to the needs of locals, the district administration is initiating damage control measures. The steps were taken as per the directions of the government.

As part of the initiative, the administration has identified big and small streams rivulets, rivers , tributaries in the district. The officials of Mining department have taken up the job of identifying sand reaches.

As per the new guidelines specified in the G.O No 23 it is proposed to sell one tonne of sand for Rs 375 to the consumer. The actual need of the consumer will be verified by the officials before providing him sand. The consumer can purchase sand from the sand reach located within 20 to 25 km distance.

As per the new guidelines the consumer must transport the sand from the reach within 48 hours of booking. In case, if he fails, the permission will be cancelled. The consumer can apply his requirement in online system.

Meanwhile District Collector Ch Harikiran, during video-conference with Mining Secretary K Ramagopal, made some modifications in the GO for sand supply.

The already identified sand reaches are located at Mandaram, Balarajupalle, Seshamambapuram of Rajampet mandal, Shanupugutti, Potla durthy of Yerraguntlamandal, Cheruvukindapalle of Valluru mandal, Komarolu of Khajipet mandal, Gangavaram, Nedarapeta, Sugumanchipalle, Buggapatnam, T Sundupalle, Hasanapuram, Sivalayam, of Kondapuram mandal, Yerramukkapalle, Ambavaram, of Kamalapuram mandal, Valavala palle, Anemela of Veeranayuni palle mandal, Komarampalle of Vempalle mandal, Sankarapuram of Proddaturu mandal, Tanguturu of Nandaluru mandal, Ambavaram of Jammalamadugu mandal.
