Eluru: West Godavari District Collector R Muthyala Raju has informed Chief Secretary Nilam Sawhney that door-to-door survey was being conducted in the district to identify those who returned from foreign countries and foreigners visiting the district, as part of measures to check spread of Coronavirus here.

The Chief Secretary conducted a videoconference with District Collectors and Superintendents of Police to discuss on the measures to be taken to prevent Coronavirus and preparedness of the officials over the virus on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector informed that village/ward volunteers, ANMs and Asha workers have been visiting every household to track the Coronavirus suspects. The health condition of foreign-returned is being checked. If anybody found suffering with symptoms of the virus, they are being shifted to isolation ward for treatment. Cleanliness is being maintained in buses and bus stations to prevent the virus from spreading.

The Chief Secretary in her instructions given to the district collectors and SPs said that awareness on virus prevention should be created among masses besides allaying fears and apprehensions over the virus. Apart from giving importance to cleanliness and personal hygiene, they should be careful about persons returned from foreign countries.

Medical tests should be conducted for the family members of the foreign returned as a preventive step. People should help officials by informing about virus suspects known to them.
