Centre of Indian Trade Unions wins Toshiba trade union election
Patancheru: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has scored a resounding victory over BMS in Toshiba Industries in trade union elections.
CITU State leader K Mallikarjun, BMS' Satynaranaya and INTUC Sanjiv Reddy were in the fray. CITU was re-elected for the second time, with Mallikarjun securing a majority of 245 votes over the BMS nominee.
Of the 962 total votes, 945 were polled on Saturday, with CITU securing 487 votes, BMS 242 and INTUC 213. The CITU activists celebrated the victory by bursting crackers and taking out a victory procession from the industry to the national highway.
Addressing the participants, CITU State president Chukka Ramulu described the win as that of workers, said they were striving for workers welfare by securing improved wage agreements in the district.
