Separate body sought for migrant tribes: Jajula Srinivas Goud

Bagh Lingampally: The state president of BC Welfare Association, Jajula Srinivas Goud, has demanded that the State government form a separate corporation for the welfare of migrant tribes. He was speaking at a programme celebrating liberation day for migratory tribal communities, organised here at Sundaraiah Vignana Kendram on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, the BC leader said that there were many nomadic tribes which have no constitutional rights even after 72 years of independence. Most of the members of the communities were not given Aadhaar cards or any official identity cards so far, he added.

Jusice Eshwaraiah appealed to the State government to identify nomadic tribes which were on the verge of extinction and provide constitutional protection. A separate corporation with Rs 1,000 crore funds and constitutional status needed to be instituted by the State government for the protection of these communities, he said. Special reservations need to be given to the students from such tribes in gurukul schools, he said.

Chairman of MBC corporation Taduri Srinivas said the State government has been striving for the welfare of most backward classes in the State. The corporation would strive for the creation of new corporation for migratory tribe communities.

The meeting organised by Telangana migratory tribes association secretary general Nimmala Veeranna was attended by the state president of the association MS Narahari, the association Medak district president Vinod Kumar, Chandra Shekhar, Veeresham and others.
