3,000 students sing for national integrity

Rajamahendravaram: About 3,000 students participated in singing of songs of national integrity penned by great writer Gurajada Appa Rao on the premises of Sri Kandukuri Veeresalingam Theistic (SKVT) College here on Friday. The programme was entered into Bharat Book of Records, Tana Book of Records and Andhra Book of Records. It was first of its kind in the state to render the songs by thousands of students.

Participating in the programme, MP Maganti Murali Mohan underlined the need to conduct this type programmes to increase national integrity among student fraternity. Every student should inculcate the habit of love for the country and Gurajada Appa Rao brought a trend in Telugu literature with his writings.

Adikavi Nannaya University (AKNU) vice-chancellor Prof Murru Mutyala Naidu said that Gurajada Appa Rao was a great writer and everyone should emulate the great personality. His writings inspire the people to possess quality of national integrity and the students should learn a lot from the writings of Gurajada Appa Rao.

The students should inculcate the habit of singing songs related to national integrity as well as communal harmony, he added. With the emergence of Gurajada Appa Rao, the Telugu literature was strengthened.

Gurajada Aruna, granddaughter of Gurajada Appa Rao said plans were underway to compile all his writings into a book form. SKVT College principal Dr P Srirama Murthi advised the students to know about veteran personalities such as Gurajada Appa Rao who penned many poems relating to our country, which had awakened many people. Programme coordinator Dr PVB Sanjeeva Rao said it was first of its kind the state to organise a mammoth programme with 3,000 students singing for national integrity.
