Ryots should utilise veterinary doctors guidance

Srikakulam: Farmers, who are grazing sheep and goats, should utilise services of the veterinary doctors and scientists for better results, suggested District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy.

He inaugurated training and awareness camp for sheep and goat grazers at animal husbandry office here on Wednesday under the supervision of Sri Venkateswara Veterinary University (SVVU), Tirupati.

Guidance of scientists and doctors is essential for rearing sheep and goats as it is profitable occupation, which is allied to agriculture sector, the Collector elaborated. SVVU Vice-Chancellor Y Haribabu said with an aim to carry scientific methods in grazing sheep and goat at ground-level, they are conducting training camps.

Joint director for animal husbandry Srikakulam Dr Metta Venkateswarlu explained status of sheep and goat grazing in the district and action plan for welfare of these farmers.
