MP inaugurates Post-office Passport Seva Kendra

Rajamahendravaram: MP Maganti Murali Mohan has said that everyone should get passport for their future use and the Central government liberalised the rules to obtain passport.Inaugurating Post-office Passport Seva Kendra (PPSK) on the premises of main post office here on Saturday, the MP has said the PPSK benefits a lot to the people and they need not go to Visakhapatnam to get passport and here after passports can be issued from PPSK.

The Central government decided to start one PPSK for every 50 km for the benefit of the people across the country. To get passport, the candidates should book slot in this regard.

Regional Passport Officer NLP Choudary said the Postal department, in association with ministry of External Affairs, so far started 164 PPSKs across the country and this is the 165 PPSK. 

In first phase, PPSKs were opened in Kurnool, Kadapa, Nellore, Anantapur and Chittoor. In the second phase, the kendra was opened in Rajamahendravaram. The centres would be opened in Kakinada and Srikakulam soon. 

 At present as many as 50 slots per day were allotted in this centre and the slots will be increased to 100 shortly. The applicants should submit self-affidavit that they are not having any criminal record along with some identity for date of birth proof. Tatkal passports will be issued in five days. 


Chief Post Master General K Subramaniyan has said that plans are afoot to start as many as 24 postal banks in the state from April and Postal department is planning to expand its services as far as possible to the people.
Mayor Pantham Rajani Sesha Sai, MLC Adireddy Appa Rao, GUDA chairman Ganni Krishna, urban MLA Dr Akula Satyananarayana, Sub-Collector CM Saikanth Varma and others were present.
