Isolated rain likely in coastal AP
Hyderabad: In a warning to Andhra Pradesh, the Met department bulletin said on Sunday that thunderstorms with gusty winds are very likely to occur on May 21 at isolated places in all districts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.
According to the bulletin, thunderstorms with gusty winds occurred at isolated places in all districts of the State on Sunday. There was rain at isolated places in coastal districts and at a few places in Rayalaseema, with Udayagiri in Nellore district, Nallamada (Anantapur), Gurramkonda (Chittoor), Chittoor, Santhipuram (Chittoor) and Amarapuram (Anantapur) recording 3 cm of rain each.
There was 2 cm of rain each in Seetharamapuram (Nellore), Arogyavaram (hittoor), Jammalamadugu, Chinnamandem and Lakkireddipalle (all in Kadapa). The bulletin said the maximum day temperature of 44 degrees Celsius was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram. The day temperatures in coastal Andhra during the day ranged from 41 to 44 degrees Celsius.
The other day temperatures in the State were:
Kurnool, Nandyal & Nandigama 43 each, Anantapur 42, Nellore, Ongole, Tirupati & Vijayawada 41 each, Kavali & Kadapa 40 each, Machilipatnam 39, Bapatla 37, Narsapur, Tuni and Arogyavaram 36 each, Kakinada & Visakhapatnam Airport 35 each, Kalingapatnam & Visakhapatnam 34 each.
According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places in the coastal districts from May 21 to 24. No large change during the period May 25-27 is the weather outlook.
