Thunderstorms likely in Rayalaseema

Hyderabad: In a warning to Andhra Pradesh, the Met department bulletin said on Friday that thunderstorms with gusty winds are likely at isolated places in all Rayalseema districts on May 26. It said thunderstorms with gusty winds occurred across Andhra Pradesh on Friday.

Rain occurred at isolated places in the coastal and Rayalaseema districts, with Araku Valley in Visakhapatnam district recording 4 cm of rainfall.  The chief amounts of rainfall (in cm) in the State were: Brahmasamudram and Settur (both in Anantapur) 3 each, Rayadurg (Anantapur) 2, Gummagatta, Kanekal (both in Anantapur), Venkatagirikota (Chittoor), Kalyandrug (Anantapur) and Chodavaram (Visakhapatnam) 1 each.

The highest day temperature of 41 degrees celsius was recorded in Jangamaheswarapuram. The other temperatures in the State were: Nandyal 40, Tirupati, Kadapa, Nellore, Vijayawada & Anantapur 39 each, Nandigama & Kurnool 38 each, Kavali, Machilipatnam & Ongole 37 each, Bapatla & Visakhapatnam Airport 36 each, Kakinada 35, Kalingapatnam 35, Tuni 35, Visakhapatnam 34 and Arogyavaram 33.

According to the forecast, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at isolated places in both coastal and Rayalaseema regions from May 26 to 29. No large change during the period between May 30 and June 1 is the weather forecast.
