Kharif season advanced to avoid cyclone fury

Srikakulam: Advancement of kharif crop season for about one month will help farmers to avoid cyclone damages, said District Collector K Dhanunjaya Reddy. 

He released water from Madduvalasa reservoir on Friday. The reservoir is located in Vangara mandal and having 30,129 acres ayaucut area. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said that main aim in releasing water for one month before kharif season is to avoid cyclone damages in November.

Regularly kharif crops are being damaged due to cyclones that occur in November. With advancement of the crop season, harvesting process would be completed by November, the Collector elaborated.
