AP Govt schools to be adopted

Vijayawada: Women taking initiative in social activities is a good sign, said Bonda Sujatha, wife of Vijayawada Central MLA Umamaheswara Rao. She was the chief guest at the Inner Wheel Club of Vijayawada Mid-Town's new general body members swearing in ceremony here on Friday.

Addressing a gathering, Sujatha said that NGOs like Inner Wheel Club have been actively taking part in developing the government schools and adopting them for their all-round development, along with the state government, was commendable. 

She said that the newly elected general body members also should continue their service to society, she added. The new president, G Latha, said that they would adopt Dr JDM Elementary School at Vambay Colony and would transform it into a happy school with Rs 1.8 lakh given by the donors. 

She said that painting of school walls, bathroom, tables, chairs, sports kit, books and shoes will be distributed to the school children. Club secretary Ch Sailaja, treasurer A Sudha and other members were present.
