Surprise checks at govt schools

Nellore: District Collector R Mutyala Raju paid surprise visits to Tribal Welfare Boy’s Residential School at Podalakur road, Tribal Welfare Boy’s Hostel located in Dargamitta in the city, government primary school at Narayanareddypeta and Gurukul School in Indukurupeta on Friday.

He interacted with the students and enquired about status of completion of syllabus. The Collector asked the questions the students from the subjects and taught a lesson to them at primary school in Narayanareddypeta.

Speaking to the media, the Collector said that they had introduced ‘Punadi’, a special programme for primary schools, for providing quality education to the students. ‘Punadi’ programme had been introduced in 2,800 primary schools across the district in government, ZP, municipal and aided institutions.

“The main aim of the programme is to provide special training to the students on basic skills of learning. To improve the reading and writing skills to 67,000 students in primary schools, a special training has been provided to resource persons along with separate study material to them,” the Collector said.

Educational officers and special officers will take measures and inspect the schools on every Friday to check quality of educational activity among the primary students, he added. Collector informed that they would provide training to the teachers for taking the programme ahead.

Measures would be taken to provide uniforms to all the students in the district and also said that they had visited two tribal welfare schools in the district. DEO K Samuel, and other officials were present.
