Worship for clay Ganesha idols only, people told

Kurnool: District Collector S Satyanarayana called upon the people to protect the environment by worshipping clay-made Ganesha idols. The Collector on Tuesday released a poster designed by the district office of the Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB) with a slogan ‘Let us all worship clay made Ganesha idols.’

He also distributed the clay idols for free. Speaking on the occasion, the Collector said there is a great threat to the environment with the pollution generated from the idols made from the Plaster of Paris (PoP). He called upon the people to join hands in conservation of environment by worshipping clay idols instead of PoP.

He exhorted the people to purchase the clay idols that are being distributed by the authorities of the PCB at Raj Vihar Centre. Joint Chief Environmental Engineer Venkataramana Rao, Environmental Engineer, Prasad Rao and other officials were present.
