Simhadri power plant bags national safety award

Visakhapatnam: Simhadri Super Thermal Power Plant (SSTPP) of NTPC, Parawada, bagged the national safety innovation award-2018 from Institute of Engineers India, New Delhi, for safety innovations implemented in 2017. The award was presented by Shekhar Dutt, former Governor of Chhattisgarh, in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station is one of the fully owned power plants of NTPC Limited and is a coal based power plant, situated near Parawada, 40 km from the city. The total installed capacity of the plant is 2000 MW (4x500 MW); 2x500 MW (Stage-I) units are in an operational stage since 18 years. A 2x500 MW units of Stage-II are commissioned in March 2011 and March 2012.

Safety Park was established on the plant premises for safety induction and physical demonstration immediately after training. WhatsApp group was created in the name of Simhadri Safety Updates, including all executives of all sections, GM (O&M) and HOP, for updating/posting any unsafe conditions and Acts prevailing at site for immediate attention/action.
