Amaravati: Alleging that the TRS has been inconsistent in its stand on Polavaram project, Water Resources Minister D Umamaheswara Rao said that TRS MP K Kavitha had filed a case against the construction of Polavaram Irrigation Project in the Supreme Court and the case is still pending.

Not just that she had also complained against Polavaram in other foras, including the Central Water Commission, he said. The Minister said that Kavitha lodged a writ petition urging the Supreme Court to cancel permissions given by Union Ministry of Forest & Environment and Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Through her organisation Telangana Jagruthi, Kavitha lodged this case way back in 2011 under case number 459. She has not withdrawn it.

He said that KCR created many hurdles in construction of the project. He had discussed the issue of how AP was going ahead with Polavaram without settling the issues of affected people in Odisha and Telangana during his recent visit to Odisha and asked Patnaik not to cooperate with AP.

“Andhra people will not forget the allegations made by KCR on them at the time of Telangana movement. He recalled that KCR had said that Andhra people were tenants in Hyderabad, AP Brahmin's don't even know how to chant mantras, and KCR called Telugu Talli as the devil.

He said Andhra people do not know how to prepare biryani and it tastes like (penta) bird droppings,” Umamaheswara Rao reminded. KCR was acting on behalf of Modi who wants to settle scores with Andhra, he said.
