Tirupati: Former AP Assembly Speaker Dr Agarala Eswara Reddi demanded that the State government should name the Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) after former Lok Sabha Speaker Madabhushi Ananthasayanam Ayyangar. He stated M A Ayyangar was a powerful speaker, an eminent scholar and noble humanitarian and ethical person.

Ayyangar was born in Tiruchanoor village near Tirupati on February 4, 1891 to Varadachariar, a Sanskrit scholar.  After completing his initial education in Devasthanam High School at Tirupati. Ayyangar moved to Madras for higher studies. After obtaining his BA degree from Pachaiyappa’s College, Madras, he earned a degree in Law from the Madras Law College in 1913.

He started practicing as a lawyer at the age of 22 years in Chittoor and very soon established himself as a professional lawyer and, with his unusual ability to memories cases, soon earned the reputation of being a ‘walking digest of case laws’.

He was the first Deputy Speaker of Lok Sabha, who then was elevated as Speaker with the sudden demise of GV Mavlankar, the first Speaker of Lok Sabha. Eswara Reddi has justified his demand by saying that Ayyangar as a rare gem that Rayalaseema has ever produced.
