Serilingampally GHMC office becomes first to generate zero waste
Serilingampally: The Serilingampally Zone has become the first zone in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) as zero waste generator office. The officials have several times taken this issue seriously and have posted pictures on social media by encouraging people to segregate the wet and dry waste, to collect and put in a bio composter.
The GHMC Commissioner along with Zonal Commissioner, Serilingampally inaugurated one of the Bio Composter where all wet waste will be collected and put in a bio composter which is having a half a ton capacity, for every 1 kg of food waste put in to the composter 20 minutes of cooking gas is being generated with which it can be utilised for making Tea and Coffee in the office premises.
In this connection the GHMC officials of the Serilingampally zone installed twin bins separately in all the office rooms where all dry waste is being collected by ITC and GHMC as a pilot project to get some revenue out of it, by introducing this type of plant this zone has become the first green ISO rated and certified office in GHMC, said the Commissioner.
The GHMC Zonal Commissioner, Serilingampally, Hari Chandana Dasari explained, “That the procedure being adopted to produce biogas from cow dung wet wastes etc., within a span of 24 to 48 hours the gas will be generated. Responding to the project implemented the Commissioner appreciated the ZC for taking p this new project for better utilisation of wet waste with which biogas can be produced to cater our needs in the near future.”
