With the talks between the Telangana Mazdoor Union (TMU), a union of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) and the management failing to find an amicable solution to the issues on Friday, the Unions will take a final call today.

Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy appealed to the agitating unions to call off the proposed strike from June 11 and assured to find a solution to their issues.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao in a review meeting held on Thursday had said that the RTC employees’ strike would result in Rs 4 crore loss every day in addition to the Rs 700 crore loss being incurred by the TSRTC every year. Mahender Reddy reiterated these aspects for the Unions and requested the Unions to call off the strike.

Mentioning the fact that the corporation is already running in losses, he said that the state would set up a committee to look into the functioning of RTCs in other states and find ways to resolve the crisis if the strike is called off.

The employees’ unions, however, don’t seem to be in the mood to relent as they stated that the management is asking for the strike to be called off but are not assuring to fulfil their demands.

The union members will take a final call on the proposed strike by Saturday evening.
