Plans afoot to set up nurseries in village panchayats
Khammam: District Collector D S Lokesh Kumar here on Tuesday directed the officials concerned to prepare a perfect action plan for growing saplings by establishing nurseries in every village panchayat.
The Collector participated in a training programme held at Tekulapalli nursery and gave necessary suggestions to the officials who are under training for setting up nurseries in every village panchayat.
Speaking on the occasion, the Collector directed the officials to organise training programmes at mandal level on July 5 and 6 after conducting a survey on Wednesday about the saplings the people required.
The Collector asked the District Forest Officer to organise special technical training programme named ‘Vana Sevak’ on July 10 after linking all forest nurseries that are present in the district. A special meeting would be held on July 12 for mandal level officials, the Collector said and directed the officials to attend the meeting without fail.
Training for about 250 members were given by dividing them into four groups about collection of samples of soil and how to mix them in different proportions suitable for saplings to grow, alignment of place for each sapling, tips in planting the saplings, digging the pits and grafting the saplings by the officials of Forest and Agriculture departments.
District and Rural Development Officer Indumathi, Forest Conservator Dr Sunil S Hiramath, CRD State observer Durga Prasad, FDO’s Prakash, Satish and FRO Joshna Devi, FCO’s B Srinu and Veerabrahmam, Nagamani and Suresh were present along with others.
