Krishnaiah demands increase in BC budget allocation
Vidyanagar: The national president of BC welfare association, R Krishnaiah wrote to Telangana CM KCR to increase the budget allocation for BC welfare to Rs 20,000 crore in the upcoming 2019-20 budget.
Speaking to media here at BC Bhavan on Friday, Krishnaiah said he had proposed the increased allocation for BCs as the preparations for new proposals for the upcoming budget are being done by the State finance department. He demanded an allocation of Rs 10,000 crore for subsidy loans to BCs through BC Corporation.
Last year only 40,000 BCs received subsidy loans while nearly 5.75 lakh BCs applied for BC loans, he said. He emphasised the need for increased allocation as nearly 5. 37 lakh applications are still pending.
Allocation for BC education also needs to be increased in view of the need for new school buildings for the recently sanctioned 234 BC gurukul schools by the state government, he said. Krishnaiah demanded an allocation of Rs 600 crore specifically for construction of school buildings.
He also demanded that the State government hike scholarship amounts being given to BC students. He also appealed the government to provide training to BC students for competitive exams.
