Rash driving by drunk students claims 4 lives in Bommalaramaram
Bommalaramaram (Yadadri-Bhongir): Four youngsters lost their lives in a ghastly road accident that took place near Naginepally village in Bommalaramaram mandal on Tuesday late night. The students were reportedly under the influence of alcohol and were racing their car at over 120 kmph.
According to sources and the police, five students, Praneetha (22) of Chaderghat, Spoorthy Reddy (22) of Kothapet, Chaitanya (23) of Meerpet, Manish Reddy (23) and Vineeth Reddy (23) of Kuntluru of Hyderabad were heading towards Hyderabad in a car after attending a college party at a private farmhouse in Bommalaramaram in the district on Tuesday late night.
When their car reached the Naginepally village at around 11.20 pm, it turned turtle after the driver lost control over the vehicle which was zooming past at over 120 kmph.
While Praneetha, Spoorthy and Chaitanya died on the spot, Vineeth Reddy breathed his last while being shifted to hospital. Manish Reddy, who suffered severe injuries, is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad.
After receiving information, Bhongir CI Surender Reddy along with his team of police officials visited the spot and after completing the formalities, they shifted the dead bodies to Government hospital in Bhongir for post-mortem. Police filed a case and took up the investigation.
Meanwhile, the police said that as many as 16 students, including seven girls, of Hindu Engineering College of Ibrahimpatnam of Medchal district attended the get-together party and consumed liquor and puffed hukka.
Munugodu MLA Rajgopal Reddy on Wednesday visited the government hospital in Bhongir and consoled the bereaved family members.
Later, speaking to media, he advised the students to not to drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol and maintain permitted speeds. He further demanded the government to take safety measures and put up caution boards at turnings and accident-prone spots on all roads in the State to save the lives of people.
