State-run colleges to get facilities: Collector
Warangal: The emphasis should be given on providing infrastructural and basic facilities State-run degree and junior colleges, Warangal Urban district collector Prashanth Jeevan Patil said. Speaking at a review meeting with the principals here on Thursday, he stressed the need for ensuring proper ambience for the students so that they could excel in their academics.
"Apart from imparting quality education, the impetus should be on providing infrastructural facilities such as libraries, toilets, drinking water, compound walls," Patil said. Responding to the shortcomings informed by the principals, the Collector told them to purchase required books through Telugu Academy with an outlay of Rs 3 lakh each for Kakatiya, Pingle and Government degree colleges.
He directed the principals to submit proposals for the construction of roads. He sanctioned funds for Rangasaipet degree college to procure 50 desk-cum-benches. The Collector also assured to pursue RTC authorities when the Pingle college urged him to run a special bus between Pingle women's college and Warangal bus station.
The Collector who assured to write a letter to government for the recruitment of staff told the principals to improve enrolments in their respective colleges. Principals Dr P Venkateshwarlu, Dr B Leela, G Venkateshwarlu and DCDRC coordinator Dr E Satyanrayana were among others present.
