3 in fray for Rajamahendravaram Rural constituency

Rajamahendravaram: The Rajamahendravaram Rural Assembly constituency came into existence in 2009 consisting of Kadiyam mandal, Rajamahendravaram Rural mandal and 10 divisions in Rajamahendravaram Corporation in the place of Kadiyam Assembly constituency.

In the ensuing Assembly elections, Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary (sitting TDP MLA) is contesting again from the constituency and Kandula Durgesh (former Congress MLC) is contesting on Jana Sena Party ticket first time and Akula Veerraju is contesting from the YSRCP for second time.

Gorantla Buchiah Choudary won from the constituency in 2014 elections with a majority of 18,178 votes defeating YSRCP candidate Akula Veerraju. Earlier, Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary was elected from Rajamahendravaram Constituency in 1983,1985, 1994, 1999 assembly elections and from Rural Assembly Constituency in 2014 elections. After the emergence of Rajamahendravaram Rural Assembly Constituency in 2009, Chandana Ramesh elected on TDP ticket with a thin majority of 1,547 votes defeating Praja Rajyam Party (PRP) candidate R Swamy Naidu and Congress candidate Jakkampudi Vijaya Lakshmi. Buchaiah Choudary is seeking votes of people claiming that he has executed hundreds of crores of development works and is

confident of winning in polls as the party has strong base. Meanwhile YSRCP candidate Akula Veerraju appealing people to exercise their vote in favour of him for five years he was working in the constituency and fought for people's problems.

Meanwhile, JSP candidate Kandula Durgesh also mingling with people and having good rapport with them as earlier he was in the YSRCP. He is confident that charisma of JSP president Pawan Kalyan helps him in winning in the constituency. Gorantla Buchaiah Choudary belongs to Kamma community where as Kandula Durgesh and Akula Veerraju belongs to Kapu community.
