Chittoor cops to introduce Meetho Mee SP soon

Chittoor: To resolve the issues of people relating to the Police department, an innovative theme 'Meetho Mee SP' will be introduced in the district, said District SP Ch V Appala Naidu. The first meet of 'Meetho Mee SP' would be held at Molakalacheruvu mandal, Madanapalle division shortly, he added.

Speaking to media at Old DPO office on Thursday, the SP said it was the need of hour to bring the services of department to the doorstep of people. He reiterated the police and public should mingle with each other for developing close relations among themselves.

In order to achieve visible policing, special drives have been initiated in the district to eliminate anti-social elements. The police have taken 158 minors into custody and counselling was given for parents of minors, he said and added the police have registered 235 cases and seized Rs 5.03 lakh worth gutka packets.

Special drive has been initiated against the belt shops arresting 64 criminals, he stated. Red sanders smuggling was controlled in the district also, he added. Appala Naidu said weekly-off for police personnel would be implemented in the district shortly after completing certain formalities.

He stated the police network would be reformed at all police stations in the district as per the instructions given by Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and the DGP. No more new police stations would come up in the district, he added. Additional SP M Krishnarjuna Rao and DSP Ramanjaneyulu were present.
