Compensation to Chintalapudi evacuees demanded

Chintalapudi: The Andhra Pradesh Rytu Sangham has demanded that the state government pay compensation of Rs 30 lakh per acre to farmers whose lands were taken for the purpose of constructing the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Scheme.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, the Sangham secretary K Srinivas said that the previous government has done lot of injustice to the farmers of the State, especially in Amaravathi for the construction of the capital city.

He said that the compensation should be in accordance with the market price of the land. Separate compensation should be given for trees, bore wells and sheds, he added. The State government should hold meeting of affected farmers with the officials to speed up the rehabilitation works. The Sangham also asked for completion of the phase I works of the scheme to supply water to upland areas.
