Give priority to locals in jobs: CITU leader

Srikakulam: Leaders of Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) launched a massive agitation against Aurobindo Pharmaceutical Company management by demanding to provide jobs to local qualified youth and spend funds for development of affected villages.

The CITU leaders launched agitation on Friday in front of  the company at Pydibhimavaram village in Ranastalam mandal. Speaking on the occasion, CITU State vice-president Duppala Govinda Rao alleged that the Aurobindo management was not providing jobs to local youth even though they have required qualification. 

The company management also violating rules regarding spending of funds for development of affected villages under the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)rule. 

In all, 12 villages in Ranastalam mandal are being affected by the company pollution but the management was not providing jobs to youth belonging to these villages and not spending funds for development of these villages, he charged.

He announced that they will launch massive agitations along with residents of all the 12 affected villages from November 17. He also demanded the company management to accept demands of the existing employees regarding salaries, provident fund, welfare and medical facility.
