Donate blood frequently, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha V-C tells students
Tirupati: The blood donation camp organised by Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha (RSVP) Research Scholars in association with Sri Vekateswara Institute Of Medical Sciences (SVIMS) Blood Bank, here evoked good response from the students and scholars. While inaugurating the blood donation camp, RSVP Vice Chancellor Prof V Muralidhara Sharma said the concept of donating blood or organ is not new to Indians.
If we look back into our ancient lore, in Puranas, we can find Dadichi Mahashi coming forward to offer his life, to save the society in danger. The spinal card of Rishi was taken to make an invincible weapon Vajrayudha to help Devathas trounce Asuras, he said. He appealed the young students to make it a practice of donating blood at regular interval to save lives.
The programme was conceived by a group of research scholars led by Sailesh, Palash Mondal, Sankar Behera, Parameswar, Kiran Bhat and Srikanth. In all, 125 students and scholars donated blood in the camp in which Andhra Bank RSVP Branch Manager Srikanth and HDFC Bank Manager Prabhat Kumar and their teams also involved. SVIMS Blood Bank team headed by Prof Sridhara Babu and RSVP Registrar SR Krishna Murthy and others were present.
